Gold Service Scholarship 2019 – Get Ready for Applications!

The Gold Service Scholarship, with Patronage from Her Majesty The Queen, has become the byword for excellence among emerging young professionals in the hospitality industry in the UK. For the past six years, keen young front-of-house candidates, aged 22-28, have undertaken a series of skills tests and tasks to assess their proficiency, focus, commitment and desire to succeed in the dynamic world of restaurants, hotels, and other catering establishments.

From 3 September 2018, the 2019 Gold Service Scholarship will accept applications via their website – (closing on 1 October 2018). The process will then see all applications reviewed, followed up with most having personal interviews. The next stage involves designated candidates proceeding to the Quarter Finals on 26 and 27 October 2018 in London, with the Semi Final on 26 November, and the exciting Final task challenges in January 2019. The new 2019 Scholar will be then be announced in February at Claridge’s.

Current Scholar Michael Staub, of Rosewood Hotels, has been enjoying an array of prizes following his win earlier this year, including placements in the UK and abroad, and mentorship from leading figures within the industry. Describing the Gold Service Scholarship, he remarked that the entire process has been “an amazing experience”, and that not only has he furthered his own career goals but made many vital new contacts and friendships within the programme.

Alastair Storey, Scholarship Chairman, commented: “It’s brilliant that the UK hospitality industry has become a global benchmark, and it is really heartening that so many top employers support the Gold Service Scholarship. It is vital that we attract, nurture and develop talented young people who can see the great career opportunities that exist in front-of-house. I urge all employers to encourage their teams to enter.”
