The Gold Service Scholarship – with Patronage from Her Majesty The Queen – not only rewards service excellence, but also celebrates the vital role that service plays in the broad hospitality sector. The 2023 awards will culminate with the Final presentation of the new Scholar in February 2023.
Leading to that event, the competition kicks off with the announcement that the application process is about to be launched. The 2023 competition will open on Monday, 5th September 2022, and will close on Monday, 3rd October 2022. The Quarter Finals will take place at the end of October, the Semi-Final in late November, and the Final in mid-January 2023, with the Awards Ceremony in mid-February 2023.
Trustee and Chairman of the Judges Edward Griffiths commented: “So many challenges face the hospitality industry at the moment, and so the Scholarship is all the more relevant in encouraging and mentoring young professionals as they embrace their chosen career path. The Gold Service Scholarship continues to lead in providing opportunities for talented young people to broaden their knowledge and experience.”
Over the last decade, candidates and eventual winning finalists and scholars, have come from hugely diverse backgrounds – including a great range of hotels and restaurants, large event and food service companies, Royal Palaces, private clubs, and football stadium catering venues. Each one of these young front-of-house contenders (aged 22-28 to qualify for the competition) has shown a passion to improve their skills set, to progress in their career, to learn from senior industry leaders, and to network with like-minded aspiring professionals.
