This year, we were proud to announce Joel Pennington as our 2026 scholar. Every year, our winning scholar has the opportunity to meet with our trustees at Coutts Bank for the scholars’ lunch to celebrate their achievement and discuss the upcoming learning opportunities and mentoring they will enjoy in the coming year.
Joel enjoyed an incredible lunch prepared by Peter Fiori, and the day was rounded off with a tour of the rooftop kitchen garden. We spoke with Joe about what he’s been up to since the awards, including his recent visit to a local secondary school and an appearance on a podcast. We also discussed what’s next for him and what he’s looking forward to in his journey.

During this discussion, he spoke about celebrating Joel’s achievements, discussed his upcoming mentoring opportunities, and highlighted why Joel stood out to him and the other trustees as their scholar.
